Cacao Ceremony

Journey Together is hosting a Sacred Cacao Ceremony on Saturday, July 11th from 1-4pm in Montclair, NJ. The ceremony will be facilitated by Carolina Leal and Shane Rose, leaders of Kinti-illya, a community created with the purpose of promoting and preserving the ancestral traditions of the Andes. They support and work closely with various indigenous groups in South and North America.
About Cacao:
Cacao is one of the ancient plants used by natives in Mexico, Central and part of South America. It is known as a heart opener because it stimulates blood circulation which increases activity in the brain and nervous system. As cacao physically opens the heart, it also energetically connects the mind with the heart allowing us to be in tune with ourselves and those around us.
Cacao promotes joy, acceptance and excitement for life while keeping us grounded and aware.
About the facilitators:
Carolina has been working and training with natives in Peru for over 14 years, where she received the title of Paqo or Inca mesa carrier and is a Tibetan medicine practitioner. She has been part of and has hosted multiple national and international plant medicine and self-discovery retreats. Shane has been working with ancestral plant medicines for over 10 years and is a tai chi practitioner.

Things to know
Refrain from eating a few hours before ceremony. The subtle sensations of cacao can be better felt on an empty stomach.
There will be meditation cushions on the floor for seating, but if you can’t sit on the floor for long period of time, consider bringing a folding chair or backjack.
DO NOT BE LATE. Our ceremonies have an intentional opening, so late comers will not be able to join once we have started. Plan to arrive 10 minutes early to park, hit traffic, or settle into your spot in the circle.
There are no refunds issued, due to limited administration time to process refunds and limited capacity for the event. Please only purchase a ticket if you feel committed to attending.
